Warriors and Monks is a fast paced novel full of endless adventure, forbidden romance, descriptive combat, and lovable characters. While I have enjoyed all his novels, I found this one to be quite engaging, with the chapters well planned and often ending in a cliffhangers or twists that immersed me in the story.
I put down Ken Follet's "Edge of Eternity" to read Ponzio's newest volume "Warriors and Monks". Monasteries, pilgrimages, weapons, ships, battles, God, theology, geography, history and romance! It's all in there.

As the title suggests, the novel is bountiful with warrior and monk elements. The author intertwines passion and romance, action and suspense, military construction and strategy, and debates on theology, to create a well-rounded novel. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times. No spoiler alerts, but one of the characters really is a character!

I've read every book that Mike Ponzio has written in the ancestry novels series to date- Warriors and Monks was his best work to date. This book had more sex, more violence, and more general fiction and a little less history. . . exciting fights, romantic ventures, and unexpected twist just make a good fiction great, and Mike Ponzio achieved that well in this book.
